Centennial Coal’s Angus Place Coal Mine near Lithgow, NSW is upgrading its cap lamps by changing over to the Integrated Communications Cap Lamp (ICCL).

The 275 ICCL’s are configured to include PED Paging receiver to operate with the existing PED Emergency Warning System, and each will also include a RFID Tag to introduce a tracking system into the mine.
The RFID tag is the based on AeroScout’s leading Wi-Fi tagging technology that has been customized to suit the ICCL and MST’s tracking infrastructure. Initially ImPact Access Points will be installed at the surface portals, and later expanded into the mine to split the mine into tracking zones.

The ability to track miners as they move around underground will certainly contribute in ensuring Angus Place maintains the high safety levels already achieved by the mine management and workforce. MST thank Centennial Coal for their continued support of our PED and mine tracking technologies, as Angus Place joins their Springvale and Clarence Mines that have already upgraded to the ICCL light weight lamps.
